On Sunday, my Dad and I harvested some grass in our front yard that was probably two feet tall and fed it to my rabbits. Instead of using a lawn mower which would mulch up all the clippings my dad used a Corona brand hedge shears to cut down the grass. I followed behind him with a rake and raked it all up into a pile. When we were finished we had filled a six cubic foot wheelbarrow we were using. So I wheeled it over to my rabbits to feed it to them. I decided that I did not want to place the grass on the floor of the rabbits' cage so I quickly made and installed some simple hay-racks. I did this by taking a piece of scrap welded wire 12" long by 8" wide and bending it into a "v" shape so that one side is 6" long and the other is 2" long. Then I put the 2" side against the cage wall about 10" high and fastened it with J-clips. The hayrack is now ready to receive grass. |
